Working On It

Working On It
I'm not perfect

I'm a work in progress
The dirt seems soft
When your purpose costs less

I mean

When your goal is low
The soil's pillow

I mean

When the goal is high
Then you're bold as lions

The ceiling's cement
Cemented legacy

Dragged down by demons
Epoxy elegy

The lesson's lesions
A little leaven leeches

I know it's hard
To leave them

Blocked messages
Walls erected

Deflected precedence
For presidency.

Even when offered it.

I elect an Oval Office
of Obstruction.

The preference:
Unintelligent.

Yes, the steps are delicate,
but after twenty years,
you expect delegates
to be well tested.

Accept it.
